Raincoats are to keep you from getting soaked on your way to work or school or whatever. When it is raining there is less visibility for drivers and bicyclers, Yellow is a bright color that will cut through most visibility issues.

Rain is sad, and yellow is happy. It's just kind of a thing to even out the situation. I prefer to dance in the rain without a coat.

Well, there are rain coats to keep you dry if you go outside in the rain. (Are you blonde?)
And, they are yellow because they are worn by traffic cops so the maniac drivers can see them. However, if yellow isn't your best color, I'm sure you could probably find some other colors at your neighborhood store. Yellow isn't the only color that keeps the water off you.

Raincoats are there to protect ourselves from rain and all raincoats are not yellow in colour . They differ in colour .

The "why" is self evident. They might be yellow because they were invented for Mariners and you want to be able to spot them if they fall overboard.
