Happens all of the time, after a relationship.
Men are always thinking about reproduction, it is hardwired in our brain. None the less, the answer to your question probably not, in all honesty.
Let me explain, from my own introspection. Every time I see a female, sex is the first thing I think of. This is usually just a quick thought, and either A) immediately expanded on, or B) immediately dismissed (dismissals, are not to be taken as insults, there are many obvious incompatible potentials out there).
This mental process does not turn into strong sexual feelings, at the time of the initial processing of the observation of a female. it is not until the male has decided, that initially any way, the female has potential. Then the strong feelings, arise, and action is taken. So if the male has decided to expand on who he is seeing, and mentally explore the possibilities, based on what he knows about the female, or (as it is much of the time) merely what he sees, then sexual feelings will be strongly present.

Homosexuals have relationships with females all the time without sexual feeling. They probably dismiss them as sexual partners, but the mental process (I think) would still take place.

There are a few occasions in which I can be friends with a girl (and I don't mean friends with benefits). Excuse me if any of this answer seems sexist or distasteful -- I'm just being honest!

- Ex-girlfriends when we parted amicably, although this is quite rare and relies heavily on whether the break-up really was mutual.

- Girls I have slept with and found the attraction was more intellectual than physical.

- My male friends' girlfriends (although whether I would feel the same way were they to break up is another matter!)

- Finally, women I find physically unattractive are the easiest to be friends with. If I find a girl ugly, I can happily remain close friends without ever contemplating sex.

But when it comes to attractive, intelligent women with whom I have some similarities, take it as guaranteed that I want to take her to bed, regardless of whether it would destroy our friendship.

In reality, if this is your man you are talking about and he says he is friends with a woman, just keep a close eye on them, cos it starts off ok then they text and call and meet up all the time, and men just love the attention of a woman, and any man no matter how much you trust them can be tempted to stray like this. Don't give him too much rope.

Most definitely, I've had some of my guy friends for over 30 years. Friends do have things in common or they wouldn't be called friends. After a while they just become as normal to talk to as a girlfriend would be. Actually, men make very good friends.

Possible but not all. I'd say majority of the men will fantasize about their female friend. A man usually will not have the desire to be a friend to a woman unless he has some feelings for her.

Don't listen to these people. Yes, it is possible. I am a straight guy with several platonic friends who are female. If you have been good friends with someone for a really long time then sometimes it can be wierd to take that next step with them.

An adult man ....Yes definitely. We all make friends and not all of them are the same sex. No good if one of you wants more from the friendship though so make sure you both know where you stand. Teens with raging hormones might be a different story!!
