Dig it over and put down fabric to stop weeds, cover with gravel or small stones, build a bbq in southfacing end, couple of pots with herbs, a table and two chairs there you go

It's the perfect space for a herb garden or vegetable patch! It's useful, healthy, yummy and smells good. And really easy to start and look after. I started mine by throwing all may kitchen scraps (vegetable only - never put meat in your garden) in the space then I tore up all the old newspapers that I had lying around. I wet it all down using a watering can with dilute Seasol (seaweed emulsion fertiliser - available a gardening shops and supermarkets) and then covered the whole lot with bags of organic potting mix (because that's all I had on hand when I decided to do it). I made sure that the potting mix was at least 15cm deep (deeper would be better, but I ran out) and then I planted basil, oregano, mizuna (a lettuce-like salad green) and tomatoes - and 4 months later they are happy and HUGE! Just water regularly for the first month or so (just to assure them that you care) and use Seasol once a week to make them strong and resistant to bugs. I haven't even got weeds in there yet. Good luck and enjoy!

A lot depends on you and what you want from the space. Do you want to entertain, do you need something low maintenance, modern?, rustic?. Then you need to decide whether it gets a lot of sun or is it shaded- Don't get too tied up with which direction it faces that can always be worked with. Once you have a rough idea of these things ask again-I'm sure plenty of people will have some great ideas-including myself!

It depends on where you live! If you are near the equator, it will be different than if you are in England. If your garden is facing North, it will be different answers than if your garden faces South.
Please give a few more details, and you'll get great answers. Most of us gardening types love to give advice!
P.S. Fish ponds don't work everywhere - and herbs don't either. Again, it will all depend on your particular site and location in the world. Is it sunny? Shady? Next to your house or a garage wall? Please add a complete description, and you will get some great and thoughtful answers. Thanks for letting us help you!

You could train some climbers along the wall or fence, such as cleamatis, sweet peas (as in flowers), peas, beans etc.

You could turn this into a really good little vegetable garden - you'd be surprised how much veg you can get out of such a small space.

If you've got any cheap bookshops near you, they often have books about gardening with small spaces.
Its a good idea to pick a theme, I grow herbs and salads as well as some flowers. Fennel herb grows into a huge feathery bush, I grow sunflowers as well for height and colour. We get cherry tomatoes, lettuce, spring onions and I've added hazelnuts.
Try to get some foundation plants that look good all year round otherwise its bare in winter.
I also found it helped to measure it out and make a map on graph paper, I try different things on paper first.

I think for sure that a vase of red roses with another of grape vine vases is great to the garden. Maybe adding some small cactuses around the vase is much better too. The cactus is your own choices. Putting some small vases of herbs is good too. A hanging beautiful flower vases is nice.

i tore everything out and put down a desert area with cactus and sand and lots of rocks..this way i don't have to cut the grass and these plants don't need shade or a lot of water...but i live in a desert arid area..so it might not work for you..you might want to just pave the whole area and put in astro turf..its great and green and its low maintenance too

I have ideas on what you can put in there. You can put some tomatoe plants, basil, kale, and parsely. They work good for coocking.
