Birth control gives women power, both in refusing to have a child that he wants, or forcing him to be a father, when he doesn't. Yes, he can refuse sexual urges, but women are pretty good at overwhelming that choice. He can wear a condom, but often fail, and can be tampered with. Also, women can also impregnate themselves after just having oral sex.

A man cannot get a vasectomy until a certain age and only with the permission of his spouse. My daughter got her tubes tied without her husband even knowing it.

Now the male birth control is a possibility. Married and single men can choose not to be a father. What will this do for women wanting to be a mother, especially for those who target high income men? A Florida woman gets $10,000+/month on four children, all tax free, and she's still considered low income since she doesn't hold a job.

19 years of working with divorced and single fathers has tended to harden me. Especially a recent case where a 27 year old man, who was molested when he was 11, was ordered to pay the woman 15 years of retroactive child support.

Sorry but I am completely baffled by this claim:

"Also, women can also impregnate themselves after just having oral sex."
Does "having" mean giving, receiving, or both?

This is real news to me...
am I the only person who has never heard of this phenomenon?

I think you are really off base with your arguments about women getting pregnant just to live off the welfare state.

And I don't feel at all sorry if you can't 'fight off' the advances of a woman, duh, after all you are the big strong man.

But to answer your question -
Would women want men taking a birth control pill.
YES !!!
I mean Yes, please!!!

Males should take responsibility, it's been up to the females for far too long. All men should have to take it. There are a multitude of unwanted, unloved children in the world already, as well as fathers who cannot or will not own up to their responsibilities. But why settle for the pill? I'd vote for subsidized vasectomies and if all else fails, castration.

You were right about one thing - birth control gives women power - amen for that. The introduction of the pill brought an enlightened age... women no longer forced to endure unwanted pregnancies or suffer the humiliation of having a child out of wedlock, or conceived through incest, or rape.

Enough lecture from me, thanx

...but I'm still wondering about your "impregnate themselves" remark......
and the mental image is frightening!

I would say HE** yes! I mean women usually have to do everything when it comes to having kids or not having kids. They have to have their tubes tied, go through monthly cycle, pregnancies, miscarriages and come on guys are you really that weak. SAY NO!! We have to all the time!! I think a woman should be able to do whatever she wants with HER body man do what they want with theirs. They do what they want like walking away from a pregnant girlfriend leaving her with all the responsibility of the pregnancy, and the baby. I think it would be the most responsible thing that man can do. Stop spreading their seed and don't even know how many kids they have out there. It shouldnt be a problem with marriages it would be the same as when the woman is on the pill and then they decided they do want kids...they simply (or not so simply) talk about it. And about the woman getting 10,000 well great if she's a good mother. If the dad doesn't want to be in the picture at least his money will be. If women were treated with respect this wouldnt happen and if man stepped up to their responsibility then it wouldnt be an issue. All those single fathers out there should be getting $10,000 as well cause its whoever takes on the responsibility of taking care of the kids. Just as it is bad to leave the man with the kids its bad when the man leaves the woman with the kids. Great for your daughter!! Maybe she was freaking tired of backaches, swollen feet, gaining weight and then getting complaints of her gaining weight, or maybe just feeling to old to have more kids, maybe the husband wasn't helping. Obviously you are a man and don't understand. Here's and idea lets trade places. You wouldn't last through cramps. You man would be whining all day long and you'd be the ones with the headaches. Man, go have a baby and then speak. Until then, hush boy.

I for one would love for my husband to be on the pill so that i no longer have to worry about it. with the higher risk of breast cancer when on the pill . there is also a risk of blood clot and heart attact for women who are on the pill. however as for the control issue... I am sorry that a boy who was molested a 11 is now responsible for a child he didn't want to have. hmmm, this sounds very familiar. like maybe when a woman is raped and impregnated. and there has the hardest choice of her life. isn't that the same thing except then she has no choice she is pregnant. and after something so ugly has just happened to her.. many women own up to that and still will that baby and love it very much. I'm sorry there are also many many men who sure want to have sex but don't want to have babys, well they should learn to keep it in their pants if they are that worried about it. My oldest daughter is almost 8 and has never met her father and i have recieved a dime in child support. So don't tell me that woman in florida is a something that usually happens because all the single mothers I know. and there is a lot. have never recieved more than 300.00 a month and they have never recieved it regularly. So being single and pregnant is no picnic. believe me and most educated or even somewhat smart women do not want to just go out and get pregnant to trap a guy. sorry its no longer 1950.

Wow, I'm sorry, but there is just so much wrong with what you said that I don't know where to start.
First, what country do oyu live in? Because in the USA you don't need anyone's permission to get a vasectomy, unless you are underage. Under 25, you will usually need to consult with a specialist to be sure that you aren't making an impulsive decision, but if you truly don't want kids, they will give you the vasectomy.
I object to what you say about how women can "ovewhelm a man's choice to not have sex". Does a man have NO responsibility for his own sexuality? Or are you saying that women habitually rape men? Are we in the dark ages, where a woman must hide her voice and refrain from singing because she might "incite lust"? Get real!

I think it's a good idea. Anyway, if you're not in a relationship, you need to use a condom. But once in a relationship, yes, why not! The truth is, I wouldn't make a baby behind my bf's back. I think it's just wrong, both for the man and for the kid. But since the pill has bad effects on me (put on weight, mod swings), yeah, why not!

As for what you were talking about, I think it would be a good way for men to be in control as well, if they don't trust the girl enough - and from what you said, some shouldn't!

ha,ha,ha it makes no sense,no guys would know if a woman uses birth pills, men dont need permission to anyone to have a vasectomy''a condom was made to use in a longer period during mating' and it cant tampered''if its then dont buy it simple as that''your daughter was smart so thats good for her';male birth control is it a Pill''the only control for men is abstain from sex if you can''a 27 man molested before, that is the past''a florida woman gets 10 grand and still low income possible maybe shes paying mortgage bills, food tutions, car, insurance etc etc etc etc so theres no complication about that'''

I think a woman in a committed monogamous relationship would be pleased to let the man take responsibility for birth control.

However, for more casual relationships, a woman would have to be DEMENTED to believe a man who says 'don't worry about it baby I'm on the pill!'.

Lots of men have heard that line... and are now fathers... and I'm sure the same would happen in reverse!

For your own protection... take charge of contraception YOURSELF.. man or woman! And since the other methods of birth control offer no protection against STD's, if you aren't 100% sure your partner is clean, use condoms as well!

Every baby deserves to be a planned baby... and it is the responsibility of both parents to make that happen.

I don't care if men have "birth control" or not. It all boils down to personal responsiblity. If he doesn't want children, then he needs to wear a condom, or don't have sex.

As for me, I am on BC. I am not interested in have a child anytime soon. I don't trust anyone put myself with any form of birth control, so I am always prepared. Luckly for me, I dont have to worry about that, but everyone else should always cover their own a ss and not assume the other person will have protection.

Woman cannot force a man to have a child he does not want.
He must be in on the deal from the outset.

A man, however, can keep from having children himself. Condoms, snip-snip, and spermicides go a long way.

Forced. Good lord man, what century are you in?

You blame women for your lack of control and planning .. had a bad go, did you?

Two to tango, not one to drag the other along. Knife cuts both ways - in and out. Take responsibility for your own penis.

And yes yes.. men should have birth control available. Most DEFINITELY!

(Of course, I'd imagine few of us would actually trust you to take it properly!)

From a woman's perspective....
I am over 30, have a child, and do not want any more. Birth control pills make me very sick, due to the large amount of estrogen in them. I could have my tubes tied as well, however, it is a very invasive and painful surgical procedure. My husband has been promising to get a vasectomy for the past 7 years, but has yet to have it done.
For couples like us, the male birth control would be ideal.
