My boyfriend was in an accident and got stitches in his forehead and bit threw his lip, but what's really killing him is his neck and shoulders. There were no broken bones but just major stiffness; he can barely move and can't fall asleep. Ive been giving him 3 motrins and rubbing muscle rub but he's still miserable... what can I do?

Ok here is what you can do:
Treat with ice, if you do not have an ice pack use a frozen bag of peas or corn
Give him an anti inflammatory such as Ibuprofen.
See a chiropractor, they are miracle workers with injuries to the neck and spine.
When there is a soft tissue injury the blood automatically goes to the injured area because it is its job to fix the injured area, at least that is what it thinks. In actuality what it does is promote inflammation. You can actually feel the heat from the blood in that area compared to the rest of the body. So when you put the ice on it the blood says oh man that is cold I am out of here sorry about your luck. That promotes healing. So treat with ice 20 minutes on 20 off. then after about 72 hours you can alternate with heat and ice. Good luck

If he didn't have neck x-ray he needs one.
If no bone damage or dislocation then it sounds like whiplash.
Which I've had.....and it can last for months when the muscles
don't relax. see doctor and prob. needs muscle relaxant. But forget those over the counter pain killers before he
destroys his liver and kidneys. MSM is a natural pain killer but it
takes a while before it kicks in and then is mild.
Sleep on back with neck on rolled up towel or btn two pillows so
neck is not crunched. Time heals. Have him visualize a calming
blue-white light surrounding his neck as he feels it healing.

I suspect he has a whiplash injury. You didn't give details on how the accident happened but if the vehicle was rear-ended, then whiplash is possible. It is necessary to take xrays of his cervical spine to rule out any fracture or dislocation/subluxation. If there are no bony injuries, then the whiplash should settle in about 2-3 weeks. He will need painkillers and muscle relaxants. Didn't the doctors who sewed him up suspect this?

Contact you family doctor. It's likely that he will need stronger pain medications. That would be your best option. Also, you may try alternating a heating pad and cold packs for the muscle pain. Good luck, this is not going to be a short term thing; it's going to take some time to heal.

One thing my dad found that was helpful was to fill a tube sock full of rice heat it for 3-5 minutes in the microwave and place on his neck. It greatly helped his neck pain following his car accident. My mom added a few drops of potpourri scent to the rice and when heated it has a soothing aroma. You can use it over and over:)

This is weird but it works My Chiropracter told me this. Take a tube sock and fill it with dried beans Tie a knot in the end and microwave for 2 or 3 minutes it puts off moist heat and helps with soreness. When your done with it put in the freezer it lasts for years and you can use it cold too. Try it the beans you can move around in the sock in the shape you need it ....
