The small amount of benefit money they receive is spent and thus goes back into Britains economy, its not being sent overseas.
they are told they will have to find jobs but the government is ultimately responsible for the decline of employment opportunities here such as many jobs being sent to India, we have barely any industry left due to cheap imports.
Yet its all the fault of the unemployed ?
if everyone was in work then the government would be in trouble as people could demand better wages due to the shortfall in available workers, the whole capitalist system depends on there being a constant level of unemployment.

If people on benefits choose to smoke, drink & have satellite TV.. the money they spend on these is taxed, so the Government is getting more money back again.
and why should the unemployed be expected to live like monks because they are out of employment? would they be denied the smallest of pleasures simply because they aren't part of the money making system??

If being on the dole is such a free ride.
why don't you just quit your job & sign on??

READ THE TRUTH - the unemployed are weak in society and have no power base... they are an easy target... those in power really DONT care about the powerless... it is a lip service. they are insulated from the downtrodden because they live their lives looking down in fear of loosing their material things and dont want to share... so there is no empathy only an intellectual comprehension of these people. in their eyes they are like animals or insects.

And why am i as a WORKING TAX PAYER haveing to pay for these lazy money grabbing bastards.Aprt from people who are disabled they have no choice.
But i for one do not feel sorry for anyone on the dole, why should i
i left school in 1980 with no qualifications but i managed to get a job and have worked ever since. The people on the dole think they are entitled to it.....ffs this cannot be right seeing as alot of them have pounced off the good hard working people of the uk without paying anything in.....and dont go down they pax taxes through the beer and fags they smoke with my money.I cannot afford to smoke or drink like they do so why should we feel sorry for the oppressed people on the dole.
1 other thing is if they were take a job and it was low paid i`m sure they goverment have some finacial help they will give them to top there money up to a reasonable level.I think you should only be allowed to get out if you put a certain ammount in if you have not put the required ammount in then GET A JOB YOU LAZY POUNCE (this is not directed at the person who asked the question) is a general rant at the dole scum..
If you took away benifits i bet there would be hardly any unemployment and also it might stop everyone coming here to sponge off the state.
To lokidrew
the free ride statement yopu have made thats just about sums it up......Something for nothing!!! i do not wish to pounce off the state and maybe i wish to make something of myself. You only get out of life what you put in!!!.
If you want something in life you have to put the effort in but ALOT of the people who do not work cannot be bothered, they want everything handed to them on a plate.
Look if these people dont like the FREE RIDE THEN GET OFF THE BUS......if everyone in the uk did not work where do you think the money would come from? SO as you can see the ppl on the dole rely on me and all the other workers. might sound harsh but thats the problem we got in the uk,we are far to soft and frightened to upset ppl with the truths.

Because unfortunately there are some low life scum bags who think the dole was put there just for them to get a living. By no means am i labling everyone who is unemployed - it is very difficult to get a job these days, and to make ends meet. With more and more people moving to the uk, we are struggling with employment, and the unemployment benefit is vital for some people to survive (i was a single mum for 2 years, and relied on my small amount of benefit!!)
something drastic has got to be done with this country soon - we are sinking!!!!!!

There are currently loads of jobs available and if you want one I am sure you could find one very quickly. I haven't had a permanent job for many years but have been continuously employed and have no wish to attempt to live on the pittance handed out by the Benefits Agency. It is however intended as a safety net and not for people to live on long term. And sorry mate but luxuries, when you are out of work, are actually out of the question you get those when you get a job and buy your own. Benefits are intended for necessities.

How many people on benefits a) smoke,b) drink c) have satellite TV?.. far too many!! All these are paid for by hard working taxpayers. If they want a new telly...ask the social...a new watch...ask the social.Fair enough make sure they are sheltered, clothed and fed..but to provide them with luxuries too...very wrong.Give them vouchers instead of money.

Just heard in the paper that the Government wants single parents to be in work.
If everybody is working, it means that the country is productive economically.
If you are unemployed, try to give something back to the community in whatever form you can.
Become a volunteer.

the unemployed can't support the politicians in the style to which they are accustomed. So the politicians cater to the rich and generous.
