I received four cuttings from a plant that blooms at night and I have no idea what it is or how to care for it. I potted two of them and put two in vases. The two potted ones died and the two in vases seem to be living, but they aren't growing very much. I'm not sure what I did wrong with the potted ones, or what the plant even in, but it has tendrils and grows leaves off of leaves.

Sounds like a moonflower to me, too. And, if it is a vine type of plant...you want to leave it in water long enough to establish new roots, before planting in a pot. .... Usually, 2-3 weeks. That's probably why the ones in your vases are still thriving.

Good Luck!

If it has white flowers it is a moonflower. Moon flower grow best in the garden. They do not need much tending, just water and some space to grow.
