Actually, it's both. Everyone has opportunities during their lifetime. Some choose to grasp those opportunities; others do not. People who are successful have generally also failed repeatedly as well. It's the ability to tough it out through those failures that will eventually lead to success.

I think both have a part in success. But "chance" starts with having parents wealthy enough and smart enough to give their children good educations and expose them to books, travel, and other cultural opportunities. There are people who seem driven to be successful, but I'd guess that most top doctors, lawyers, wall street wizzards, etc. come from middle and upper class families who helped along the way.

sucess is the matter of choice and not a chance.You get success the day when you have decided to have success.Mahatma Gandhi decided that he will move for Britishers to throwout of India,the day he decided he got the success to get the freedom.It is im-material whether it took one or several years to get independence.So the success comes by your efforts and not by chance.

Skin level it may be looking like that. But if you go deeply you may observe that our life is nothing about making choices in every situation.

You are continuously making choices. So the Success in life also depends on how we are making choices.

if we all hoping for a chance we will all become beggars
chance to win in a lottery,, chance to win in a lotto
a million to one chances--1 millionaire ,,,the rest are looser
to make our life more exciting and very competetive
we live by choice and hope for the chances

actually not only sucess but everything that happens is by chance, even what you choose is by chance
