Where are you moving from to go to Alaska? Where in Alaska will you be staying?
If you are staying in the Southern part, their temperatures are actualy warmer than Minnesota during the winter. If in the Norhtern part -- you may want to wait to buy clothes until you are there as they will have what you need.

It depends on where in Alaska, and what kind of job you have.Anything that has a Thinsulate lining is good. Also look for socks that have wicking properties. By that, I mean they wick moisture away from your skin. You'll want a good set of gloves that are not so tight, you want to keep a layer of air between the skin and the glove. And a set of mittens for the times that you don't need the use of fingers. Boots need to be bought according to the work that you'll be doing and the time that you'll spend outdoors. Your coat should be hip length to keep wind from getting under and cooling your torso, and always have a good hat with ear flaps and a scarf for your neck and face.
