I agree with the above poster, the book was far better than the movie. The movie followed the book well enough, but it was missing the passion, the depth of character, and the full essence of the story.

well there were a few differences. one was that in the book darry throws the first punch in the rumble but in the movie paul throws the first punch. also in the movie darry and ponyboy dont get in that big fight where soda runs away;;but in the book that happens. hey do you go to chardon middle school?

the book was better!!!

there was no difference they followed it pretty much to the t,,,,, so if you only watched the movie and did not read the book you will be ok
