mamma and dada, at 8 or so months. but I dont think that babies actually are saying any words. They are just putting syllables together. I do think that closer to a year, babies can start saying a few words that actually mean something.

Newborns don't talk. When they get close to a year old, many of them say "mama" or "dada"

Ma Ma is learned a little later because the "M" sound is harder for babies to do.

i agree with crissy..it's waaaaaaaaa...it's amazing in the hospital after having my little one recently...all the crying babies sounded like they were singing the same chorus. :-)
