okay so ive been in anorexia recovery now since the middle of january and since then i have put on 2 stone extremely quickly!

its making me really self consious,i feel and look so much bigger but my family says that i look no different. i can still fit into my size 8 clothes though,so i dont understand how i have put on the 2stone but can still fit into them.

im not allowed to excercise because part of my anorexia was also because i was compulsively excercising as well as starving myself.but i do get out on short walks etc so thats excercise i guess

even though my family say that i havent put on weight...i dont believe them..it seems there just saying this to make me feel better...which is actualy making me feel worse.

can anyone help me with this?im like freaking out each day when i have gone up more weight.

please/

Well done ........you are in recovery.

Your family love you and care for you , thats great that you have support.

Start feeling good about yourself now , you know you are worth it :)

Good luck

Your family want you to be healthy, and if you were size 8 but your clothes were loose on you, then you were thinner than was healthy. By the sound of your situation, you are getting back to full health.

I suppose it could be said about anorexia is that it is a disease which causes the sufferer to slowly disappear - and your body was consuming itself in order to survive. Your family don't want you to disappear! You were dangerously thin, so thin that your health was in jeopardy.

All that's happening with your body now is that it is rebuilding the flesh that it had consumed while you were starving yourself and doing compulsive exercise. This is NOT fat. Size 8 is still very slim indeed. The walking you're doing now is helping your body metabolise the food you've taken in in such a way that it is not stored as fat but used as nature intended - for healthy functioning.

You don't say how old you are, it may be also that you are still growing and need to eat properly to allow this to happen, so any weight gain is not fat, but in fact your skeleton building itself, and of course it needs sinews and muscles to go with it also, and muscle weighs more than fat, but takes up a lot less space.

It's easy to focus only on weight, but weight can be very misleading. After all, you are size 8 in a world where size 10 is considered ideal.

The feelings of being self-conscious about your appearance could well be remaining symptoms of your anorexia. Perhaps you could discuss these with your G.P. or medical advisor? You don't say what treatment you are having but there are plently of recovery support groups out there. If you ask your G.P. about these they can recommend you one and then you might find people that have been through the same feelings which could help. Good luck!

i was offered the choice of inpatient treatment or to stay at home and recover there providing that i did try my best to recover.so i chose home.i see my dietician and attend my clininc once a week and see my GP every 2 weeks also.

im kinda thinking that ive ruined my metabolism from the anorexia, maybe thats why ive gained 2stone in like just over a month

i just really need someone to explain why to me please
