I think Americans have become "blinkered" by right wing, fascist politicians who convince them that none of these problems are serious, compared to those nasty old (mainly imaginary) terrorists who are hiding behind every tree, ready to take away our rights as Americans. In the 1950's, it was Communists. Now it's terrorists. As long as the White House cares more about foreign policy than domestic problems, we'll have more homeless, more drug addicts, less money for education, etc. Think about this. A teacher in a typical American school makes about $35,000 a year. But a man who can hit a little ball with a wooden stick makes millions and millions of dollars? What's wrong with THAT picture???

The US is the best country on earth, by far. We have the best form of government. The economy is booming. Unemployment is down. You have the freedom to go anywhere you want. You can work at any job you wish. The government pays you money when you retire. And all you do is find fault? Look inward.
No society is perfect. Try living in a truly dysfunctional environment, such as South Africa or Bangla Desh. Jersey City, NJ will start to look like heaven to you after a short while.

Because the corporations run this place. Make no mistake about it, they are the power behind the thrown. Not to be cynical, but when is the last time congress passed a law for us, the people? Big business pays the bills and they reap the rewards. Need proof, just look at how the middle class in this country is disappearing. This country was so great because of the middle class and the more the middle class disappears, the more of a mess we have.
