2Pac and 50 Cent both sold millions of albums in the U.S and worldwide. Both of them are well respected by their peers and and by fans all over the world. 2Pac is regarded with The Notorious B.I.G. as the two biggest and greatest rapper's of all time. But both of them haven't won any grammy's and that's because both of them are not commercial rapper's.
2Pac raps about poverty, pain and how to overcome the pain (Pain, Changes, Keep Ya Head Up, Dear Mama) and sometimes he has fun funky songs so that you can dance to (California Love, Hit 'Em Up, 2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted) so he doesn't really care about Grammy awards. he doesn't care what the public or the media think of him 2Pac stays true to his heart.
The Notorious B.I.G. rap's mainly for the player's so that's why you'll hear his records play more in the clubs.
Rapper's like Eminem or Will Smith are commercial rapper's and the judges on the Grammy's can say "yes these rapper's are commercial and don't get into too much trouble with the police."
Dr. Dre won an Grammy for his best rap song "Forget About Dre" because Enimen was in the song.
The truth is the Grammy's is one b.s award show. The best really never win's: it's only commercial that wins. If Mariah gets into trouble and say stuff the police the Grammy's would never let her win.

It has not NOTHING to do with popularity, album sales, etc.
Those artists: Notorious BIG, 2Pac, AND 50 Cent have all gone diamond (10 million sold).
They have NO grammy's because they are NOT commercial.
Eminem won because he had enough commercial appeal AND he's a white rapper.
Mrs. Vick is right. Can't knock real talk.
This is why Fresh Prince and those non-threatening rappers ALWAYS win.
Remember Arrested Development? Where are they now?
If it came down to impact, then Rakim, Biggie, 'Pac, AND 50 Cent would have won by now.

popularity, legendary status and album sales don't always give an indication of a rapper being able to win a grammy award. grammy's are all about musical, lyrical and productive talent, which is only present in rappers' albums who have talented producers and artists on them. 50 cent has made great albums, but he has competed against people like kanye west and his own mentor, eminem, who are clearly better at making albums because they make the whole thing by themselves pretty much. 2pac however has long deserved a grammy, even if it's after-death, but he just hasn't gotten it, probably because he is dead already.

B/c rap is chanting to music. Rappers nether play instruments or sing. It's not music and takes very little talent.
