I have changed careers from retail to customer service, I started working at departmetn stores like Macy's, (was called Foley's when I worked for them), also Wal-Mart, Sears, Target and other stores. I wanted to work my way up, but that's really a low budget low pay job and I needed more money. So I started working customer service and doing call center work for various companies and I get payed a lot more than retail pays. Now I'm going to change my career again to Web Developer once I finsh college and obtain my degree. That's one of the highest paying jobs in america at this moment so the schooling is worth it.

Started life as an engineer in electronics and changed to a mechanical engineer with all the qualifications. Went into engineering sales and worked up to Sales Director. Company was taken over and at a too old age I was made redundant. I started up my own business as a tradesman doing home improvement work. Windows, plastering, brick laying, new fascia and gutters and painting and decorating. All hands on with just me doing the work. Never made the dizzy levels of money as when employed but became very happy in my work and made a very good living with plenty of holidays thrown in, about 5 every year. In 12 years I never had another head ache apart from the flue once.

Yes - I was in the same employment (office work)
for 14 years then I was made redundant.
Wanted a chnage of direction so became a store-detective.
(Frightening job - got into some dangerous situation)
Pharmacy - until I had my son.
Finally - Playworker - enjoy working with children and
currently working an inclusive worker for children with
'particular' needs. (I don't like saying special needs). Don,t know
why I had such a change of direction, I think I am always looking
for something better. Although nothing could be quite as rewarding as what I do now.

Yep. I was a PA to a senior Director in television and decided I needed to follow my dream to be a singer. So I left ('cause it felt right) and 2 months later I was singing as lead vocalist on a cruise line.. Did it for 4 years!!
