Starting Wed. I have slept 15 hours during the day. I work third shift since january and have a first shift job. Wed, Thurs, Frid, Sat, I have slept about 15 hours and still feel exhausted. I fall asleep everytime I sit down at work, church, at home. I have missed appointments and work becuase I sleep so hard noone can wake me up and I dont hear my phone ring and my alarms go off. My mom seems to think that i'm just catching up to alot of sleep that I have missed. By the way I am 20 years old. I don't think i'm catching up but i don't know whats wrong. I don't think i'm anemic but i'm not a doctor. I don't have health insurance and don't have a doctor so going is very expensive at the hospital. So do you have any suggestions on whats wrong or what I should try? i have tried drinking a 2 liter of soda to keep me awake but that doesn't work either. or maybe you could give me a good website that would say whats wrong with me or something, pretty much anything would help. thanks!

I have just recently started a third shift job and I know how it feels.
basically what your going through is commen and I have gone through it as well. Your your days and nights are mixed up.
but you will get used to it eventually and the recommended sleep time is 9-10 hours actually. so when you work nights your confusing your mind.but yes oversleeping will make you more tired. but it is normal to feel that way, sometimes when your up for too long it does take a while for your mind to catch up with your body. I don't know if that makes any sense to you but its the best way I know to explain it.
just do some stretches and drink plenty of water and believe it or not you'll feel better.good luck

I am 20 years old as well, and i seem to have the same problem, except i moved 3 weeks ago to a counrty with an 8 hour difference, so it's probably jet lag. I guess u have no proper motivation. Because if u did u would think that it's worth gettin up for or maybe it's the age thing....
anyhow i'm sure it's just a phase! do not fight it sleep all u can (even 24 hours) ur bound to get tired and you'll be up and fresh in no time!

Well, the more you sleep, the more tired you will feel. That's pretty much common knowledge.

You probably are catching up on sleep.

Try waking up to music or buy the reaaaallllyyy loud bells clanging alarm clock.

all i know of is webmd.com to diagnose yourself. But you probably need to get some blood work done. Maybe you could save some money and find a nurse practitioner that will see you and order blood work. That would be a little less expensive.

You are just run down and suffering from exhaustion that is why you are so hard to wake up.

Indeed..You are having too much sleep.Actually, it should be enough to sleep 7 hours per day..But you have to organise your sleep time systematically... :)

It's impossible to get to much sleep. To much is not a verb. It is possible, however, to get too much sleep.
