Sex has nothing to do with it. Ok, well other than the obvious....

In other words, how soon after you have sex isn't the issue, it's how long have you missed your period.

If your period isn't due for a while, then grab a Snickers bar, because you'll need to wait until then.

Well, you can take a test immediately but it isn't going to tell you much.

For reasonable results wait until at least 16 days after having sex or until your period is at least 1 or 2 days overdue, and then take any home pregnancy test you can buy at the pharmacy or supermarket - honestly, there's not a whole lot of difference between them. They all work the same way.

Or, if you are seriously anxious then you can visit your doctor about 10-12 days after intercourse and ask for a blood test. If you have conceived this may pick it up.

But please note, any type of very early pregnancy test - blood or urine - may not be completely reliable and may give a false negative.

The moral of the story? Don't test too soon. Patience.
