Jeez, what could be wrong with Victoria?
You are beautifully located; not far from San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Houston, Austin and Galveston (one of the all-time-great US cities).
And, you are only 30miles inland from the Gulf!
Take Highway 59 south and visit Laredo and then over the border to see Nuevo Laredo.
Victoria would be an ideal location to live.

Victoria is a decent-sized city and has all the amenities a population of over 60,000 residents need.
Including three golf courses, the Texas Zoo, Victoria College and the University of Houston-Victoria.

This is the city's website:

I live in northeast Texas and went down there with my best friend to see his sister and family and enjoyed the place. If you move or visit you will be aware of the 7 minute rule. If you want rain wait 7 minutes or drive 7 miles. I enjoyed my visit there.

I agree with all the other answers . In addition the price of real estate is reasonable.
