Focus on mental health is good, but presentation is good for your mental health too. It would be nice to think that it doesn't matter how we look, but it does effect the way people treat us. You don't need to spend a lot of money, just some time, effort and resourcefullness. As for possessions - stay free of them; they are a burden. Don't just wait around for therapy either. It doesn't solve everything with a magic wand; living your life without harming others is the best tonic.

Sorry so if you do not have much money how are you on here are you using someone Else's Internet connection. If not then why not spend the money you use for being on here and go to one of the charity shops as they have plenty of good cheap clothes. get a jacket and shirt to go with you Ralph Lauren Jeans...you will look cool and smart.
You could always go to the library to use the Internet for a small ch rage. This will keep you in touch with the world.
You are right to focus on your mental health and getting well. before getting back into the employment market. However, can you not join a group so that you can get out and about and meet people. As long as you feel comfortable and your clothes are clean you should not worry about the latest rends in fashion, but if it does like I said you will also pick up a bargain at one of your local charity shops if it will make you feel better about yourself.
I hope that you are getting support from a Community psychiatric nurse so that you are nor alone all the time.
I wish you well and I hope that life improves for you and good luck with the therapy. Lets us all know how you are getting on.
Oh and by the way have you seen some of the clothes the celebs wear, you sound as though you could join their ranks no problem as long as they are clean.

health is more important than material posessions. As a student of 24, everybody around me is shabby, creased (50p for a dryer- get lost!) and unfashionable.
Shabby-chique is soooo HOT right now (cant believe I just said that!), just keep your desighner jeans like your ralph lauren(which i think are pretty cool), keep afew good 'old favourites' and match cheap and cheer full t-shirts.
above all dont worry about pointless things like what you are wearing, yo can get a trouser suit for £30 in Topshop for a job interview. concentrate on yourself for the timebeing!

Don't worry about not having many possessions. I don't either & they are not important. Sometimes ones mood is affected by what we wear though so just make sure you are happy & comfortable in your clothes. They don't need to be the latest fashions. Work on your inner-self, that is what is important.

If you go round worrying about what other people think about you, you will worry about it for the rest of your life...
to hell with other peoples opinion of what you wear, and why feel bad because you don't own a lot of stuff? there are millionaires in mansions who don't feel content with their TONS of stuff.
make & be your own trend! personally i don't bother caring anymore about any of this rubbish like have i got the latest /haircut/clothes/cellphone/ etc. what does it matter??
try to just become content with yourself because the rest is just ephemera :~)

Its not about the latest fashions, but it probably would help if you ironed your clothes. Presenting yourself is not always about how much money you spent but how you put yourself together :)

A Japanese guru said, if you are unfortunate look at those less fortunate than you. fortunate and unfortunate days are both made by god and they are not permanent.
