I was thinking of connecting a second battery in parrallel and putting it in my saddle bag. Do you think this will work? Will both batteries end up dead? I will probably keep the vest on most of the time. The grips I will cycle on and off during the ride. Is there any type of switch/device I can install between the two batteries that will prevent the main battery from fully discharging? The motorcycle only has electric start. There is no kick starter.

Best that you don't put two batteries in parallel, If one battery is weaker or older it can get overcharged and ruined.
For car systems you can buy a device that acts as a solenoid.
When the main battery is charged it allows the current from the alternator to flow to the second battery. If the main battery drops in voltage the current flow to the second battery ceases.
The system isolates the two batteries so that current drawn from the second battery does not drain the main battery. All additional accessories are wired into the second battery, so that they will not send the main battery flat.

In your case, you probably would need to upgrade the alternator as you are using more current than the alternator can supply

Another battery won't make your alternator put out any more juice. You'll just drain both batteries and overload the alternator as it tries to charge two of them. You'll have to have a bigger alternator to do any good.
Heated stuff draws too much current. Any bike sized battery will be dead in no time without a big enough alternator to keep it charged.

The electrical energy isn't for the working of the automobile as much as this is for the electrical powered stuff interior the automobile (lighting fixtures fixtures, radio and such) as nicely as for the spark required interior the spark plugs to fireplace the gas that runs the automobile. confident, the automobile does produce a number of this is very own electrical energy mandatory for the spark and such besides the undeniable fact that it's not sufficient and with out the battery to assist it, it is going to finally run out of electrical energy mandatory. each and all of the alternator does is save the battery charged. I as quickly as had my alternator flow on an prolonged holiday abode and that i nonetheless controlled tochronic for about 10 hours till now I had to renounce and get my battary boosted. If it hadn't gotten darkish and that i had to apply my lighting fixtures fixtures i could have been waiting to maintain going for the extra desirable 40 minutes mandatory to get to my mom and dad place. nonetheless 10 hours right away making use of replaced into rather sturdy.
