Okay, cos my last question was apparently too much of an essay!

Can anyone please tell me if Magic Kingdom / MGM in Orlando is still worth going to? I have had conflicting reports, some people say it is still great, others say dont waste your money! Anyone been recently?

Thanks for your replies, we are taking 2 kids who are 10 and 8. I have been before they havent. I did enjoy DIsney when I went (without kids) but have had conflicting reports that it has gone down hill and not been updated in over 10 years (I last went 10 years ago)! I have booked Discovery Cove, Universal, IOA, Seaworld etc. but dont want to pay to go to Disney if it is disappointing. Does anyone know how much it is just for a day to go to just Magic Kingdom or MGM? Is Blizzard Beach / Typhoon Lagoon included or can you buy seperate tickets for these?

I am taking my kids, 11 and 7 in April, and the Magic Kingdom is the #1 thing on the list, followed closely by MGM. My sister was there back in July with her family (she has an 11 yr old and a 10 yr old), and my parents and brother and his family were there over Christmas and all said that all of the Disney parks are better than ever. They have updated part of Tomorrowland, with a new ride called Stich's wild ride, there is a Monster's Inc. ride there now as well. It's a Small world was closed for refurbishment recently as well as Pirates of the Caribbean, where they added Capt. Jack Sparrow and a few others. In MGM they have added a stunt show and a couple of other attractions. So if you ask me if those parks are still worth it, I say YES!!!! We have 32 days to go, and we can't wait!!

The people who say don't waste your money are not Disney fans. If I wanted to just do rollercoasters like at Universal, I would stay home and go to Six Flags in Gurnee, IL and save a bunch of money. Disney is different, they are constantly making things better. I would choose a Disney vacation over almost anything else, so much so that my wife and I finally joined the Disney Vacation Club! Hopefully it will allow us to go more often! I would suggest going to www.disneyworld.com to get more info one rides and attractions. Also, pick up the Birnbaum's guide to WDW. There are tons of guidebooks out there, but that works best for us. Also, if you have the opportunity, stay on property at a Disney resort, even for a couple of days. The perks you get as a Disney guest are worth it, and they are competitively priced. If you would like some help, feel free to e-mail me. I don't work for a travel agency or get paid to help like some of the other people that answer the questions do, I just love going to Disney and think that everyone should have the Disney experience!

Have a great trip!!

I was there this past September, and went again in December. These are both awesome parks.

YES, they are worth the money. But you have to check out as much as you can. My first trip to Disney World was in 1987, back when there was only Magic Kingdom and Epcot. My sister was living in Florida at the time and she took us "on tour". Well, she dragged us through the parks to "hurry up, you can't miss this" (or that, whatever she was taking us too). We would see something we wanted to ride, and she would say, "you don't want to go on that, it is stupid".....Well, needless to say, I had a terrible time.

I didn't go back for many years. Then in 2004, my other sister (who had been asking me every year to go and I would decline) asked me, and I needed to get away, so I went.

I had the BEST time of my life. (and yes the price was much higher than it was in 1987-but everything costs more now except maybe computers!)

Anyway, I went again in 2005, and like I said I went twice last year! I can't get enough. I am even considering moving to Florida and getting an annual pass!! Every time we go, I try to ride everything I can, and see as many shows as possible!

You only asked about Magic Kingdom and MGM, don't forget there is also Epcot and Animal Kingdom!! Each park has some great rides and ALL the shows are fantastic!

Disney World is not run down. They are constantly doing refurbishments and replacing outdated attractions and entertainment with new stuff. Your kids will love it! The Disney-MGM Studios can be done in less than a day. So plan to spend half the day there and then spend the other half at a Disney water park (which are a ton of fun!) - seperate tickets though since they are seperate parks. However, you can add the "water park fun and more" option to your tickets, which saves you money as opposed to purchasing both tickets seperately. To learn more, visit http://www.disneyworld.com

it all depends on u and wot u r doin on ur holiday wether u r relaxing or wether it is a more active family holiday, also if u av children how old r they? Magic kingdom has more things to do 4 the younger ages even though there is sumthin for every1 to do an MGM has got more things for the older ages to do but this has plenty of things for younger children also..

on my holidays, my family an i enjoy goin to Universal Studios an Island of Aventure more than Disney now because there is such a wide variety of things to do for all ages.

my opinion is i think it is worth going still!
i wud suggest a park hopper ticket so u can pay for the parks u want to go to, if then u decide u dont want to go there, u can jus simply take ur tickets to a yellow box situated all round Florida an either get ur money back for remaining parks or exchange to go to a different park of ur choice.. its upto u!

Have a good holiday :D Xx

magic kingdom is by far my favorite park (probably cuz i work there) but it's is the most kids friendly. all the rides in this park are great! i've been on everyone of them probably more than 3-5 times.

as mgm goes, the rides are more intense like tower of terror and rock n' rollercoaster. if u aren't afraid of thrilling rides, i say go for it. all the shows at mgm are also fun, indiana jones, the stunt show, muppet 3-D.

i don't think the disney parks are a waste of money, either u like it or u like it :)

Here's what I think, for what it counts, if your fiance and the kids have never been to the Magic Kingdom why wouldn't you at least go for an afternoon? It is an amazing place. You don't have to ride every ride.
While I had been before, my husband's first trip to Disney was 2 years ago. He was 36. His face, when we walked into the kingdom was priceless for me. He was as blown away as my 2 girls.

I went to Disney a few years ago and loved it - the only thing i didn't like and wouldn't bother to go to again was EPCOT - i was bored senseless - everything else was fab! The biggest surprise to me was Sea World. Universal studios is by far the best of all the parks!

well - the adult admission is now around $60/day
compared to $3.75 when I first went there in trhe 70's

In the order, I would see them, EPCOT
Magic Kingdom, MGM

Haven't been to the newest zoo park, yet.

welcome to Florida
