Juyoh hotel in Asakusa. Nearest station Minami-Senju. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to Senso-ji Temple.
Avoid the Golden Week period starting around April 29th as someone above said - prices go up and it gets really crowded.
Things do? Lots of things.
*visit temples and shrines like Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa, Meiji Shrine in Harajuku, Zojo-ji in Hamamatscho
*shopping in Akihabara for electronics and clothes in Ginza, Shibuya, Shinjuku
*enjoy tea at numerous gardens such as Rikugien in Komagome, Hama-Rikyu in Shimbashi, or Shinjuku Gyoen,
*go to the fish market in Tsukiji (it's closed Sundays and two Weds every month)
*see Kabuki at Kabuki-za (closed at the end of the month)
If you come around April 21st, you'll have a chance to catch Yabusame: mounted Japanese archery in Asakusa in Sumida Park.

You can also take a day trip to Yokohama or further south to Kamakura and see Diabutsu: Great Buddha

Why don't you visit Okayama, western Honshu ? It's less than than an hour from Osaka and Kobe which are good for day visits. It's a stone's throw from the Seto-Ohashi sea. The biggest bridge in the world is located there ! Ferrys are very cheap and comfortable and if you get tired at looking at the islands there's plenty of other things to do on board. Okayama hotel accommodation is much cheaper as it is a much smaller city.

Me too! I went very last year and that i go back haha! My first tip will be to take it straight forward the first few days, except you're not any more getting jetlag, very last time i become strolling round all day the first day and were given a fever >.< You gotta bypass to the Meiji shrine, this is captivating~ and obviously see the lighting fixtures and bypass procuring in Shinjuku/Shibuya. also you may bypass to the point of view atop the authorities progression (very last year it become close because of the earthquake, although this is advantageous now I might want to imagine). you may also get boat journeys down the river, going previous the YKK and newpaper homes and stuff. Tokyo tower seems thrilling too. in case you opt for classic aspects, you gotta bypass to Asakusa, they have those outstanding shrines, get rickshaw rides (which contain outstanding historic previous training from the drivers!) and purchase ramune (like lemonade). i visit't imagine of a lot at present day>.< yet you need to absolutely attempt to seek out a regularly occurring eastern eating position round there, this is between the oldest aspects of Tokyo. Oh! and also you may want to bypass to between the arcades, get some prettified pictures (although my boyfriend did not take excitement in his eyes being made large and 'fantastically' :L:L) and devour some takoyaki - they have stalls promoting it everywhere. Sorry I rambled, there is only a lot to do, in case you provide google a fantastic search for there'll be ever extra issues:) EDIT: Forgot to assert, you likely understand, although the metro will take you everywhere, they're like bus stops :L:L so that you infrequently opt for to stroll that far!

I would recommend what they call "weekly mansions". They are fully furnished apartments that you can rent per week. It is a lot cheaper than getting a hotel for one week, and they are all over the place. If you know somebody where you are going, they can make arrangements for you. They usually have open rooms but if you can make a reservation, that would be safest. But you can't tour around, you would have to be only in Tokyo, or where ever you visit.
Enjoy.

My advice to you is to make it mid-April or until the 26th. From the 29th it is holiday season in Japan. Things can get expensive during that time.
