How does Spell Check deal with submissions such as this ? This is no exaggeration.

Surely 'The Team' at Yahoo Answers, who have penalised me in the past for what they considered to be offensive remarks, could protect us from this kind of ignorant language.

If the only way to avoid this is to avoid Yahoo Answers alltogether that would be a shame because a lot of us enjoy taking part.

If the general standard of the site is not improved then I for one will walk away. Am I alone in being concerned or do others agree ?

I dnt even bother reading questions that look like that, if people don't have simple language skills then why waste my time reading their daft questions.
Its usually penned by teenagers, asking love life advice anyway.. and more often than not they are not worth reading/replying to.

Writing like that is a 'yoof' thing. It's a code to keep the rest of us out. Spell check isn't invoked at all! Just ignore it, until they grow up.

As for the YA team, they have their own arcane rules. I've worked them out to be: no pleasantries (seen as chatting), and no 'jokes', especially irony, my favourite (people won't get it, & will be offended). If the irony is seen as insulting someone, even if it's laughing at yourself, expect a violation notice. But it's OK for the nutters to openly insult certain races/religions. So much for free speech!

In whatever way the writer presents his position, I am always hopeful that because he is presenting it, he is in the mood to listen, and that gives you the opportunity to explain reality to him.
If you call him names and insult him, generally speaking, you have removed the possibility of being listened to, and considered in any way, shape or form.
If you can respond to him nicely and simply, you have a chance that he will listen, and even if he doesn't agree with you, he will consider your point, when he might NEVER have considered his wife's.
When you respond in anger, you are saying to the writer that his spelling and grammar is MUCH MUCH more important than what he has to say. Maybe sometimes it is, but how often?!
Just a thought....Ü

In order for spell check to work, one has to be able to read, then recognize the correct spelling, I think people like the one mentioned above are just fooling around, surely no one speaks, or writes this way. But then I could be wrong.

personally i think you are being unfair as to judge somebody for their ability to use appropriate grammar & spelling.
For some this site will be their 2nd language & why would people who have not been educated to an exceptable level to you not still need/want to participate on answers.

I do agree somewhat.. it takes away from the validity/intelligence of the remarks/opinions if they aren't spelt correctly..

PS Surely not everyone on here is American? (See kcc0482) Also if you only write IN CAPITALS it looks like you are yelling at everyone!

I just pass right over questions in that kind of language. But you're quite right in what you say. It's horrific.
