I have been w/ my husband for 15 years. This summer he started an affair w/ my cousin.. A cousin I grew up w/ and welcomed into my house all summer w/ her children. Now he is seeking a divorce from me. My doctor suspects I have HPV, (God Only knows what else). I have been totally faithful through our marriage. He on the other hand who knows.. He now wants half the house. Which means I may lose it and then where do I go w/ my 2 young girls 8 and 10.
I will never afford a new house. Our house has more than tripled in value since we bought it. I dont want money if I sue, I just want my house/ I have also been in therapy and so have my daughters since this happened. I would love to recoup all my $20 copays I cant afford tooooo.
Any Massachusetts Lawyers out there I would love to know my options.. PLEASE HELP

I have been to a lawyer and Massachusetts has a "no fault" law, meaning he can beat me and cheat on me and still get 1/2 the house. If he doesnt get it now he will get it when the girls grow up and with the prices of houses skyrocketing , I will lose it in 13 years when my youngest grows up and if they cant afford to move out we will all have to move into an apartment. It just breaks my heart!

The unfortunate thing about HPV is that you will never know when you caught it.

Pap Smears do not cover the detection of HPV, only whether or not abnormal cells are present, which more than likely is bacteria. Once an abnormal test occurs then they'll give you the HPV test which just came about within the last 10 years.

HPV can sit in your spine forever and never do anything to harm you. Its my understanding that there is no rhyme or reason (as of yet) as to why and when HPV decides to attack your cervix. Stress and smoking are currently thought to increase its development, but there's nothing conclusive.

You can't go blaming your husband for this one unless you've had negative HPV tests before. You could have been exposed to it before you got involved with your husband or you husband could have alwyas been a carrier and it is just now reacting in your body.

I know you're upset with everything going on, my suggestion would be to continue with your divorce but keep a focus on your health. I had stage 1 cervical cancer in both 99 and 06. Its not a joke, especially because there are no symptoms. Please take care of yourself and don't put off the doctor appointments, if not for you, then for your daughters. And get them tested and vaccinated for HPV, ASAP! HPV is passed from mother to child during pregnancy too.

For one thing he will not likely get the house you have kids the kids need a home and he also committed adultry that has made you sick with something that could lead to cancer so you go see a lawyer and tell him you want the house spousal support and child support and that you also need a car check out this link;

and i would also make sure if he has a retirement plan that i would get 1/2 of that also

YES. You can sue for DIVORCE. The house will be part of the settlement.
So will child support.
