my partners mother has had a catering van on the same site for 12 years she is very ill she has cancer so she has passed the buisness on to us now we have had the councal telling us we may have to move but it is a family buisness i want to know if we have been on that land for 12 years do we have rights i think its unfair as his mum has bult this busneess for 12 years

If you lay down,people will line up to stomp on you.Fight,you have rights,besides your family business is Grand fathered in.That means your business was around long before the local laws changed.

It depends in who's name the original authorisation was made.

If it's solely in her name, then the council have a right to refuse anyone else operating on that site.

It could also mean that they are desperate to have the van removed and are using the change as a reason.
