In the news today, reports are saying that should Harry go to war with Iraq in May, he will be deemed as the ultimate prize should he be captured or even murdered over there

I know Harry wants to fight for his country and be treated like every other soldier but the simple truth is he is royalty and so if anything happened to him, it would send shockwaves through our country and because he wants to be treated like any other soldier, he won't get special treatment or protection I fear. I am fearful for Harry knowing that muslim fighters in Iraq will all be aiming to capture the Prince.

What do you think in light of the new information regarding Al Queada's threats, should Harry still fight for his country or think about his own protection and not take the risk? What do you think?

Cheers, Dave

Of course he should go and fight in Iraq. The royal family are not as popular as they once were, so harry doing something like this would be a big help showing that the royals do care about their country and people and are willing to fight for it.
All soldiers go to war knowing that they might be killed and harry is no different, muslim warriors may want to target him but it would be hard, i assume, for them to find the intelligence on his where abouts.
Prince Andrew was rightly praised for his role in the falklands and I think Harry will achieve the same.

There is a precedent for Prince Harry going to Iraq. During The Zulu Wars in the 19th century (Rorke's Drift and Isandhlwana) there was a Prince of the House of Bonaparte, who was living here in England under the auspices of Queen Victoria. He wanted to go to Africa, much to the horror of his mother and Queen Victoria. And of course the government!
But he ended up there, albeit in a non-combatant role. And you know what! He was ambushed, and killed by the Zulu's.
There were awful repercushions back in England, with peoples reputations destroyed and questions asked in the House Of Parliament.
But, I think Harry should go if his regiment is posted there. No two ways about it!

Harry will be a major target for sure. His whereabouts will known to the nearest inch by his own forces and probably by the enemy forces as well.

Why not use him to lure the enemy in and just before they strike, we surround them and defeat them!! Better still we could have a whole battalion of Harry lookalikes with bright red hair all luring in the opposing forces. We could soon hack down a few of them in this way;)

Seriously tho' if he didn't go then half the world would be calling him a coward. It's a case of "damned if you do and you're damned if you don't".

Judging by the impcompetence of Al Qaeda, it is difficult to take the threat to Prince Harry seriously. After all, we are talking about men in baggy trousers and spotting tea-towels and Enfield rifles! He would be in greater danger trying to drive round the North Circular than being in Iraq.

It's not hard to imagine that the Prince of a Western nation would be the prime target of a kidnapping or bombing, but they've had countless opportunities to do so in England, prior to his military training. They didn't. Hard targets like a royal or a dignitary don't carry the same level of fear and paranoia as a regular, work-a-day civilian does. Prince Harry is threatened with a suicide attack and everyone says "Well of course, he IS a Prince of England." However, random contractor gets kidnapped, tortured and beheaded, and everyone thinks "My god, that could be ME."

Prince Harry joined the military knowing that his life could be in danger... it kind of goes hand-in-hand with being in the military, you know. It's terrible if anyone dies in combat, or by the hand of a terrorist. He would just be a far more public tragedy as opposed to the thousands of private tragedies being played out daily right now.

Sure. He must already have been told by military intelligence he would be a high value target if he was deployed to Iraq but if he insists on going it's his life to risk. AQ's threats were totally predictable.

What makes him different than any other soldier/marine/airmen or seaman overseas with all of these other countries. These men & women die everyday in Iraq and all you can do now is worry about poor little Prince Henry's butt? If he dies he dies and it will be a tragic loss but so is the military lives we loose every day here in iraq.

Who gives a shi t if he's Royalty....

He is worth no more than any other womans son - don't see what all the fuss over him is about, if anything he has more to fight for than anyone the riches he lives in!

If only we had the same concern for all of our children that we send to war. Let's stop Harry, and all our children from being killed.
