I’m not even sure whether these things exist, but I’m (on appearance) a relatively fit and healthy 30-year-old man, but a bodged knee operation has left me so that every now and again my knee pops out leaving me unable to walk.

When I go out I don’t want to drag around a crutch just in case, so I was wondering if there is such a thing as a discreet (extendable?) walking stick type device I could carry with me in case I need it.

try all outdoor stores as extendable walking poles are readily available in stores like millets or Blacks, you can also buy extendable poles with suspension units in the bottom to decrease the amount of pressure put on the arm, elbow and shoulder, to avoid further injury! These would be ideal for a person like yourself and are also capable of coping with harsher extremes (mountain sides) if you feel like pushing yourself a little bit!
