BBC Focus - I'd have made an important discovery for science; possibly realised the white noise on my radio was an extra-solar message, taped it, decoded it and passed it onto The Royal Astronomical Society on the condition that they arranged for me to have a meeting (over dinner of course) with Seth Shostak of SETI.
In the meantime, since I'd decoded the message, the boffins could send their own message back at weelly, weelly fast speed (and yes, that is a scientific term) so that we wouldn't have to wait for years for initial contact to be confirmed.
