My favourite teddy is a 36 year old panda called Orry and although I can't remember my Mam washing him, I do, every two or three years and he's still in tip top condition.

PS No, we have the most beautiful language in the world and it should be a crime when people misuse it. When I text (very rarely), I use proper standard English including punctuation and I'm forever correcting my colleagues' sad attempts at spelling/punctuation/grammar. Their current favourite is to put an apostrophe in simple plurals.

She never just threatened, she actually did it. My poor teddy bear was then unceremoniously dangled from the rotary drier in the back garden. To add insult to injury, my older sister and her friend then thought it would be funny to spin said clothes drier round as fast as they could while my bear was hanging there, until the bear came off and flew across the garden and it's ears remained firmly attached to the line with clothes pegs.

isn't that a treat though? teddy used to smell so nice afterwards, and "hanging out to dry" means that teddy went swimming (in the washing machine), then "sunbathing" on the clothes line hung from his ears..he looked so funny

Seeing a row of teddies hanging by their ears was a common sight in the late 70's and early 80's when I was growing up. Now they all say "sponge clean only".

Mind you I bung my daughter's teddy in the machine when it gets covered in rice pudding etc. and it comes up a treat in the tumble dryer - all fluffy. In fact she says "mummy - teddy is stinky he needs a wash". She doesn't mind in fact loves watching him go round and round. Just hope she never decides to put the cats in the machine....

Of course a good mom would wash that dirty mite infested teddy! You were lucky you got it back! LOL
English? Try Italian/English slang that is the best.

Actually my mum did something worse than that. I had this soft toy thing and it got really dirty (his name was Mr Man). Anyway, she did wash it countless times, but in the end it got so filthy and tired looking that she actually threw it out and the dustbin men took it away.

I often wondered where it had gone and never knew until I was a lot older when she came clean.

Scarred for life I am......
