Is BASIC still used as a computer programming language?

If so, is IBM the leader in this field?

Basic is very old language, its not used in complex programming tasks as it is not powerful as the current prog languages like Java, c# etc. But there are some calculator where you can program small tasks using basic.

As for IBM, i really do not know if it is the leader.

BASIC is still widely used in the programming of micro controllers. i.e. Parallax BASIC Stamp
