I would like to pick up a cat tomorrow morning at the RSPCA in Burwood Victoria - do they stock cat necessities that my newly acquired cat would require?

Yes at the Burwood shelter you can buy items like beds, food, toys, etc. I am not too sure if you can buy CAT LITTER from there. You will probably have to get things like litter box, litter liners, poop scooper etc. at a store like Coles, Safeway or a pet store in your area.

Good luck with your new cat!

Edit: actually, all of the animals at the RSPCA have been temperament tested so if you check the website, or asked someone that's works/volunteers there, they will tell you what the personality and temperament of the cat is. Please do not reconsider adopting a cat from the RSPCA. They are all in need of good homes! Also, the animals there are not their property once adopted. The only way the animal is still connected to the RSPCA is if you foster a pet from there (usually animals with a disability or older dogs and cats).

Not generally, but you can pick them up from any supermarket, so just get them on your way to get the cat.

Cat litter is usually only about $3 for 5L from a supermarket such as Coles or Woolworths (Safeway), and cat food about 70c a tin, but collars are a bit dearer, so if your new cat doesn't come with one, then I suggest going to a variety store or $2 shop.

PS. I know you are probably keen to rescue a cat, but many of the cats that come from the RSPCA come with issues, plus they always remain the property of the RSPCA. Try www.petlink.com.au for free to good home cats and kittens.
