The world asked for our assitance in WW1 and WW2 they asked us to be part of the UN and all of it's resolutions which got us into Korea, Vietnam, Former Yugoslavia, Gulf 1 and Gulf 2 (Yes that means Iraq) Now we are being asked for troops for Darfur as well. We supply more aid to the poor than all other countries combined. We have supplied More Military aid to nations that requested it than any other nation. We have lost soldiers to Protect The Jews as well as the Muslims in Bosnia and Kuwait. Inspite of all this the World forgets that they ask us to help! and then acuse us of being the worlds Police or the worlds NAzis' or worse. We Have acted in some cases after being attacked but in most cases show great restraint in not going to war. The American Taxpayer pays a great cost to feed and Clothe the poor. We supply more medicine than all other countries combined. it seems to me that only the good ask us to be there, the bad and the Ignorant ask us to stay home.

Haggis-- read the UN resolutions and look at the Kuiwait Address requesting Immidiate help directly by the USA ...Yes we were begged to act without delay. Also the free flow of oil is a direct world concern Saddam said he wanted Oil at $300 per barrrel, This would have killed millions of the poor in the world How could you be so heartless to wish that?

Afgahnistan was taken over from the Afgahni people by the Taliban and the direct involvement by the taliban into world terror and the attack on the WTC led to the ONLY autonomous attack by the USA.

The world is very quick to judge AND criticize the United States, the only thing that is "Quicker" is how fast they put their hand out to us for help.

Sorry but the world did not ask us to invade and occupy Iraq.
And WW 2? We were neutral until the Japanese crippled the Pacific fleet at Pearl Harbor. Germany DECLARED war on the US the following day. Granted, lend lease, and material support to Britain were happening then, but we stayed out of direct participation. We could stay home by not getting into Iran's politics, assassinations in the Dominican Republic, toppling governments in Chile and destroying Cambodia - I know you mean well but you have a truncated view of the history of American involvement in other sovereign states after WW II.
If the US acted morally your question may have merit.

*********** WWI **************

Again, America stayed out of the war until Woodrow Wilson had no other option. Remember, the war began in August 1914 and the US did not get directly involved until April 1917. Unrestricted Uboat warfare and the Zimmerman telegram were the sources of motivation for our involvement. We did nothing while Belgium was violated or when Germany torpedoed growing numbers of British shipping, or when Germans invaded France. We only got involved when it was in the national interest. Read The Guns of August. It is an interesting study on how the war started.

The US went to war in WW 1 so the war did not go as far as to be fought on American soil. The war was from 1914 -1918. US joined in 1917. Quit watching so many US movies.

WW 2 they stayed out in favour of allowing their arms manufacturers to make tons of money. America came into the war only after Pearle Harbor was bombed and Germany declared war against the US Some Americans fought in Europe and some of the allies fought in the South Pacific.

The US was not asked to help in the Korean. They were already there facing off against the Soviets and the Chinese. The US asked for help from the UN and the Allies.

Viet Nam was a colony of the French from about 1840. The Vietnamese fought the French occupation for years and were kicked. The US first deployed advisers to the South Viet Namese and gradually the amount of US soldiers grew. The US was not asked to 'protect Viet Nam. The real conflict was the US paranoia of Communism and the USSR promoting Communism. The Viet Namese were pawns.

The forieng forses that fought in the Bosnian war were NATO allies. The US itself was not asked to except as they are part of NATO.

Gulf 2 -- disreguarding the French veto at the UN the US asked other nations to help invade Iraq.

Dufar -- the US diplomats are talking for peace along with others.

Foriegn Aid -- Finland #1 per capita
US claims its giving of milatary aid as part of its giving of aid..
Usually US aid is tied to the country recieving aid must spend it on American products.

The reason that US interests, followed closely by the US military, encircle the globe is the pursuit of wealth for its ruling elite and their desire for empire building.

Excerpt:

"The stupendous fortunes that were-and still are being extracted by the European and North American investors should remind us that there are very few really poor nations in what today is commonly called the Third World. Brazil is rich; Indonesia is rich; and so are the Philippines, Chile, Bolivia, Zaire, Mexico, India, and Malaysia. Only the people are poor."

the reason being using the fact, on the instant, u . s . of america is the only "superpower" left interior the worldwide, after the fall down of the Soviet Union. of direction, this concept isn't new -- with the Monroe Doctrine and the Roosevelt Corrolary, u . s . of america has taken a place because of the fact the early nineteenth Century that we've a job to do in retaining our acquaintances. With the autumn of the Soviet Union, u . s . of america is the only u . s . with adequate supplies to attain this unilaterally or lead it mutually to (a) look after our hobbies, (b) look after "democracy" (in spite of which skill), (c) take a stand for human rights, and (d) use skill to generally furnish for peace and protection (a minimum of interior the countries we care approximately). inspite of no remember if it rather is a good option, American involvement in another country has a minimum of prevented nuclear conflict some circumstances and, i'm hoping, has saved greater lives than it has fee. The thrilling element would be what occurs while China, India, and the european upward thrust to an equivalent point of skill. (China, as quickly because it gets its head out of its @$$ and realizes that it fairly is going to be responsible, India, as quickly as those people get mobalized and rather commence making $$, and the european, while they stop bickering and get united politically and economically). Then perhaps u . s . of america won't could desire to be so in touch (and we can spend greater of our money on ourselves quite than on prolonged militaries and foreign places help), or of direction, u . s . of america could desire to easily fall off the map into obscurity under its very own debtload and tries to be the bully.

America wasn't asked to enter the gulf war, or Afghanistan or Iraq, they went in because your president wanted to, because of the oil.
