"The children of humanity are each other's limbs
That share an origin in their creator
When one limb passes its days in pain
The other limbs cannot remain easy
You who feel no pain at the suffering of others
It is not fitting for you to be called human"

I feel pity for humanity that we can not follow such a simple logic of compassion and brotherhood!!

Trot and balderdash
Sorry but really it's poor poetically and disappointing morally.

It excludes anyone who has a natural lack of sympathy from being considered human. Is that humane?
Do you think autistic people display a great amount of sympathy, given that they can hardly recognise their own emotions?
What about young children, toddlers, who hardly have a sense of self let alone others - are they not human?
And clearly the unborn child does not have any capacity for empathy...

There are a few interesting images in the poem, but the last two lines really bother me.

How about this for something roughly poetic that seeks humanity -

In earthen hollows beneath black tonnes
To furthest reach of Himalayan peaks
Humble man has battled for aeons
The earth's wild forces to defeat

Now when the battle's finally won
Mankind has found its place undone
Cruel fate of fate, the weather's come
To claim victory o' the spirit of man

From prayer to fear to glories done
Humanity's gone past war to peace
As we've just found how to get 'long
But we've gotta do it now, just with less

We've endeavoured always to make the most
Of scarce resources around us
Keen ingenuity's undone our gains
Sending us back to the stone age

But the spirit of man can win through again
Hold up your sister, carry your brother
Give up your car, Prius is just another
Excuse to think everything's okay

Action today, use less to give more
Or risk forever an Indian summer
Stand tall y'all, tough it out
Against this fear growing all about

Weather this storm, ride home to safe shore
Sacrifice like the generations before
To show your love, give a sweet gift of all
Stay at home and sleep, use no CO2 at all

Very much so....I feel the pain of others. Not just humans but also the animals that humans abuse, hurt or demean. I liked the poetry. Good Stuff.
