An old Jewish woman told me once that she never discarded her shoes together. She always separated them so that nobody could ever "walk in her shoes".

Because you are untidy?
Because if you are out and about and see a shoe someone has probably lost it, and did not know where they lost it, it would not be lost if they knew where it was.If they did they would retrieve it!!
Where do odd socks go?
And pen lids?
And nail files?
And something you put in a safe place?
Why does my stapler run out when I go to use it?
Why does the pan boil when you leave it to go type on Yahoo, and when you stood watching it it did not boil?

If the pair of shoes is intact, some poor soul would have taken it away --and definitely use it!
