Have you considered the use of hormonal birth control methods? If you have ultimately decided AGAINST it I'd like to know why. Do you use another method? I've never taken birth control before and I am very apprehensive to take the Pill plunge before seriously considering the various aspects of making such a commitment.

I've been reading up on other people's experiences with birth control pills so PLEASE don't respond with recommendations on what types of pills I should try. I want to know why you decided NOT to go on the Pill or why you regret ever starting.

And, no, abstinence is not an option in this case, so please don't recommend it.

-Kissman- You are out of your mind! First of all, the decision whether or not I go on birth control is something my boyfriend and I are investigating TOGETHER. Not because it's supposedly MY responsibility! HE'S booking the doc appointments, HE'S gathering his own findings about methods, side-effects, costs, etc. And we have BOTH programmed alarms in our phones/PDA's to remind me when to take it. We're already practicing, just too see if it will be feasible to take it at that time every day.

I've read some of your other answers and have concluded that you are either too young to offer relevant advice on relationship/responsibility issues or you are simply too immature. Either way, your perspectives are very sexist.

I chose not to take the pill for a few reasons:
1) I smoke
2) I'm over 35
3) I forget to take it

Oh, and I highly agree with your comment to Kissman

I regretted taking the PILL because it increased my appetite, obviously causing weight gain - this led me to starvation and other diets, I am now addicted to dieting! I regretted going on the injection as it did not agree with me (the depo). Caused me to menstruate for a few months - my cycle only became 'normal' or 'regular' again after I had my son at the age of 27! I am currently not in a relationship (also inactive) so I don't worry about protection now - I guess when I need to think about it again, I'd probably go the "rain jacket" method.

I don't use the pill for the main reason that i always forget it!! For it to be even 97% effective in preventing birth control you have to use it PERFECTLY... which is taking it at the exact same time every single day, and if you take it off time for 2 days in a row, it becomes ineffective, and you have to take it correctly for 7 days before you are safely protected again. I just don't have that kind of diligence with a stupid pill!!
I am using Mirena which is an IUD, that lasts for 5 years or less depending on when i take it out, and i don't worry about it, which fits better into my life.
Just research all your different options of birth control- pills, patches, rings, or IUD (internal implanted birth control), and choose one that you are comfortable with using, and that fits easily into your life. (:

I use the pill—but if its not for you then you might want to look into the Billings ovulation method. It's simliar to the rhythm method, but a lot more reliable. Obviously you can only have sex during certain times of the month, but if you want to avoid hormones and condoms, it might be right for you. I think it's something every woman should know about.

I was on the mini pill but had to come off it because of health problems, not pill related. I was on the mini pill micronor and it suited me very well. I understand your fears as I was like that before I went on it for the first time. Once I started on it I was happy that I had and it was a relief not to have to worry about unwanted pregnancy.

The issue here is that you acknowledge & adhere to the fact that contraception is YOUR responsibility because you are a female. That said, just be sure to get using any method that is RELIABLE 1st, so your man can fulfill his need to ejaculate in your vagina whenever he needs to.
