I don't have an RX-7 but I do have a moonroof in my car and I love it! But like anything else they do require maintance and I think that's where most of the problems start. My car has 4 drain tubes and if they get blocked with leaves/dirt guess what happens.... water will leak into the cabin. Plus it also has a seal that needs to be replaced everynow and then just like any other opening. I'd say if your not into them then don't buy the car.

I have one on my truck and my car. I seldom open them, but I do like the light I get into the interior with them. Mine have never leaked although I have heard of some that do.
If you don't want a sunroof, then by all means, don't get one. If you are buying the car new, specify what you want on it and I'm sure the dealer will either order it for you or will search around the area and find one that you want.

I've always had vehicles with sunroofs, and none of them leaked.
I figure if it does, there's warranty, so other than the annoyance of having the car at the dealership, it doesn't make it/break it for me.

Honestly, when I've ever had a sunroof, I've never used it. It doesn't really help air flow, && it's loud. But I don't know, it's all about personal preference.

I was warned not to get one because, they leak, I like my convertible better (87 Mustang GT), the only thing that I like about the sun roof is that it's an extra "Escape hatch" if needed, BTW, mine now leaks !
