HERMOS was a River-God of Lydia in Anatolia (modern Turkey).

The Greek name was Hermos. Remember Greek uses different letters, so it is sometimes transliterated thus:

There is also by a river by that name mentioned in the above website.

Name is likely to be a corruption of Helmos, a mountain known today as Aroania in modern Greece. Another possibility is that Hermos is a corruption of "Hermocrates", another Greek philosopher mentioned in the two Socratic dialogues by Plato :
