Shark is a fish, they evolved in water and stayed in water. Whales(including dolphins) on the other hand, were land carnivores (fossil evidence proven) and their closest living relative is actually the hippo. It was originally though they were in the canid family, but that theory has mostly been disproven.
While the shark's is some species of fish- I can not remember the name right now though.

It is a cartiligeous fish. That is a bone less fish only cartilidge (except of coarse the teeth). Whales, dolphin and porpoise belong to the mammal family like you and I. They have hair, produce live young and feed the babies with milk and breathe air. Shark lay egg sacks and the pups are on their own from the beginning. Sharks have gills like all fishes.

Sharks, all sharks even the largest shark, whale sharks, are fish, they have gills and do not need to air to survive. Sharks can not control their body temperature, their bodies are same temperature as the water they swim in.
Whales are mammals, they must get to the surface to breathe, they nurse their young, and they are warm blooded.

I think what you mean is "is a shark a mammal or a fish " because whales are not the opposite of fish. The shark is in the "fish" class, just like a bass or tuna, and a whale is just one of many animals in the "mammal" class (which includes humans). It just happens to live in the ocean along with some other aqautic mammals like dolphins or porpoises.

A shark is a fish, but it gives birth to live young, because the parents will eat the young as soon as they're born, so they have to be able to swim away very fast. It is part of a group of fish known as cartilaginous fish.

extensive distinction one's a fish (shark), one's a mammal (dolphin). One has bones (dolphins) one would not (sharks). One is wamed blooded (dolphins) the different one's chilly blooded (sharks). Ones extra possibly to attack (dolphins) on the same time as the different one isn't (confident, sharks). Dolphins use echo region, complicated social interworkings, and cummunications, and sharks use a feeling which could experience electric powered pulses, and super senses to seize prey and a few provide stay delivery (no longer eggs). they are bothy very distinctive to many alterations to describe. additionally sharks have gills on the same time as dolphins have lungs.
