Travis H is right, if you are including sea creatures. The blue whale is the largest animal on earth, and in fact is the largest animal that ever lived.

However, if you are asking about only land animals, the largest one is the elephant, specifically, the African elephant. It, however, is not the largest land animal that has ever lived. One of the dinosaurs would have that honor.
