is 'cold mountain' a good film. why or why not?

i quite enjoyed it, nothing brilliant but very watchable

It was very sad! good tho, i think i would recommend it. GREAT book, would highly recommend it!

The structure is hopeless. Try to find another film where the leads don't even see each other for two hours. Not even Zellweger, doing what she does for no particular reason, can save it. This is not to disparage individual performances, which tend toward excellence or the brilliant cinematography. The problems are with the script.

I thought it was a good movie. I agree, it wasn't an A+, but I would give it an A-. The acting in it was wonderful, and it did a great job of updating the story of Odyseus to the Civil War era. Of course, I wanted the end to be different, but the Civil War era was a very sad time for our country when many people lost a great deal, so it makes sense that the characters in this movie did, too.

Like Cybermoose I watched I Robot instead. However, I have read the book of Cold Mountain and thought it was wonderful. Sometimes a film does not live up to the quality of the original book, and as it was quite a sad one, I prefered not to watch it. Sniff, sniff.

It isn't good if you don't like history or the American civil war, but the actors are good in it but the plot is a bit abysmal
