I work for a small company in CA.

On Fri, I just came back from my 2.5 week vacation and was planning to return to work the following Mon. To my surprise, my boss' wife just called my cell right after I got back home and said I don't have to go to work anymore.

Although mad and upset, I think it's time to move on anyway to a better job since I have outgrown this job and don't see that I can build a career in this company. It'd be a good turning point for me as I can collect umemployment insurance while looking for a new job. At this point, I'm ready to accept the discharge.

On Sat, I found out fr. a cowork that my boss (being the nice guy) does not really want to fire me but his wife does cuz she's really paranoid.

How do I tell my boss about my acceptance regarding the discharge? I know there's still tons of things I need to delegate before I leave but I don't want to accept my boss invitation back to work. What should I do to still maintain a good relationship w/ my boss?

Has your boss actually offered you your job back, or have you only heard it second-hand?

If he has you could offer to return long enough to tie up any loose ends, but say that a good working relationship would be difficult if his wife doesn't want you there. You could also say you do not want to cause problems between him & his wife. You could even offer to train the next person into your old position.

This way, you do the right thing by your boss, the nice guy as 1) you are prepared to tie up the loose ends 2) you don't want to cause problems between your boss and his wife. Also, gives you time to think about your next move...

Say you appriciate all the opportunities for development the job has offered you, and go on your merry way with a good reference, and them still wanting you back, thinking what a great person you are!

i don't understand if going back for 2 weeks could impact your means to collect UI, yet while i've got been you, and that's coming from journey, i say do no longer sweat being fired. It happens to the suitable human beings. the suitable subject so you might do is to sit down back, kick back for a minute, get your head together, report for UI, and start up gathering. Then get out and seek for something new. in the journey that your boss's spouse is being that paranoid (stupid b---h), then that's probable suitable in case you no longer bypass back there anymore. and you fairly shouldn't take this co-employees suggestion until you get it directly from the pony's mouth. A co-worker could have it in for you and is probable devising some form of plan to make you look a chicken with its head cut back off and have you ever working scared and out of your strategies over something that's fairly none of his corporation!

Yes, maintain good relations just to get back at his wife. And also to ensure a good reference next time (good work references can be hard to find).

If you do come back, demand a better salary and a better job title.
