I think because the cell nucleus act like the 'brain' of the cell. It controls the functions of the other parts of the cell. That's why it's called the control centre.

The cell nucleus is basically the "brain" of the cell so that's why it's called the "control center". I'm not sure what name you are looking for with the cheek cells....

It has to call the control center because it is made of of many cells and also given out oxygen and diverting out waste products
