How important it was to save money to buy real estate as soon as possible because now the affordability of buying a house in Australia is nearly out of reach for a "normal" person.

My parents hid the money situation from us kids and I wish they taught us how to save and budget money so that I wouldn't be in debt so bad learning on my own. They told us stay away from credit cards (no reason).

Self discipline.
I was spoiled beyond spoiled. Sure I had a great childhood... who wouldn't when they got EVERYTHING they asked for at the drop of a dime? But now that I'm an adult, it's really screwed me over in so many ways.
Thanks to my husband's Saint-like patience, I've finally matured in that area and I've done a lot of growing in areas that he shouldn't have had to deal with.
