The watt (W) is the SI unit of power. It is 1 joule per second.

If you lift a mass of 1kg through a height of 1 metre..you will have done 1 joule of work.If you do it in 1 second your power is 1 watt.

Power(W) = Work done (J)/Time taken (s)
