Since medical knowledge was nil in the paleo world there is a good chance that sex wasn't connected to child birth--a mystical and important event. Also, no dig has ever found a paleo bed, so it would be the hard ground--that can get miserable pretty quickly. I would think survival needs would trump the energy burn necessary for the short time payoff of sex.

cave drawings had religious connotations for cavemen, as they considered hunting success to depend on religious support. sex was everyday affair, and modesty was not an issue for them, since these tribes of people all lived in a single large room with no partitions.

they saw sex just as a method to reproduce,nothing about pleasure
they were painting animals,gods,and haunting scenes cuz this were the most important things for them
