if it is a whole sticker using a hot air gun works best. very similar to a blow dryer. but as others also suggested goo gone or wd-40 would work fine if it is just a sticky residue. i would try the wd-40 first because i know it wont damage paint. goo gone would surely remove it but it is very strong.

I would try a product on the market made for such a thing. If nothing else Ronsol lighter fluid works for a ton of stuff and you might even have some already.

Use prepwash or another name is wax and grease remover.
Pant shops use it to clean the surface of the paint before they spray it.It won't harm the paint and you should be able to get it from an auto shop or spray paint supplies shop.

A high quality solvent should do the trick. After that use a decent wax and polish the spot where it was removed.
