I can highly recommend the Camry. I have a 98 and have own it for about 8 years and the only money that I have put in it was for maintenance items it has been one the best cars that I have ever own. Before I bought the Camry I asked about 10 mechanics what is best and most reliable car to buy without giving them a choice and 8 of them told me the Camry one said the Accord and the other said the Jetta.
Good Luck with your choice.

These two cars are not even in the same catagory. Its like comparing apples to oranges. The better question to ask would be what are you expecting the car to do for you? If you want fuel mileage and economy and nothing more than basic transportation, then its the honda, if you need to carry 6 people comfortably and don't care about economy per say and take long trips where comfort is your basic concern, then the impala is the car for you. Depending on your age the insurance may be a sizeable difference in your budget also. Keeping in mind that both cars are good cars but that they each have obvious differences from the other, then as only you know what your immediate family needs are, then only you can answer the question asked here, which car listed here would be best for you.

Consumer Reports gives the Toyota and the Chevy an overall score of better than average. The Honda accord go an over all of much better than average. They are impartial. I like Honda because we had an accord from 92 and it still ran good. We sold it to a friend for a grand even though Kelly blue book put it at 2 grand. They are long lasting. I had a friend that had a Toyota 92 when I was in HS (1999) and the stupid thing kept dying on her.

All depends what you seek. In my opinion...

The Impala is rated high by JDPower which is the automotive research authority, which I get my information from. I never do Consumer Reports since their sampling data is very small in comparison, and lately their credibility is in question.

The parts are inexpensive, so is the insurance, problem is about 50% go to fleet sales. So the depreciation will drop. But it's also a tad larger than the other, with a much larger trunk. I'm not fond of the styling, but at least it's all in harmony and not bland.

The Camry's reliability is starting to sink a bit. Too many transmission issues lately have sort of tarnished it. But it has perceived value by many, so it doesn't depreciate like others. It handles softly and quietly like a Buick if your into that sort of dynamics. Also your insurance will be high because they are highly stolen vehicles. I also like the Mazda-like styling as well compared to the previous generation.

The Accord is getting dated, although it is reliable cept for the transmission. Usually my experience has been, replace the A/C before 80K, the timing belt around 90K and transmission around 110K, other than that, they handle a bit more sporty than the other 2. Insurance is high because they are highly stolen. A bit too much road noise for my taste though.

Just my thoughts...

Chevy Impala!!!
It's American made plus your have much better options of what you can afford to have in the car.

Replacement parts are easy to access for all Chevy dealers. GM has the 100,000 Mile Warrenty I suggest you buy a Chevy for that Warrenty!

The Chevy will outlast the Jap cars if you do the proper maintenance. You take care of the Car and The Car will Take care of you.

Depends what's most important to you. If you want the best value, great economy, and the car built in the best plant for quality in North America, buy the Impala. When things DO break, they're cheap to fix unlike the imports.

If you want to have a status symbol, need navigation, etc. I guess you buy the import.

the impala has won JD power awards, beating the socks off of toyota and honda products...also Impala is built in the best quality plant in all of north and south america..again per jd power awards... Impala offers the most value for the dollar.... plus you are supporting the north american economy..whereas honda and toyota profits leave the NA economy, taking jobs away from NA..... toyota has had large volume of recalls this past year resulting in delays of future product...toyota has just recently accepted the court decision to re-imburse for engine sludge problems..which they originally tried to hide and blame the owners....... go with the Impala .. period
