Every individual and every professional has a role to play and is important for the welfare of the society, just as every part of our body has a role to play and is important to us.
Both the doctor, who saves lives and improves the quality of life of ailing individuals (possibly of teachers), and the teacher, who transfers knowledge and inspires individuals to learn and contribute to the society (possibly as doctors), are very important for the well-being of the society.
And a point to note in this context is that the grading of importance is grader-dependent and is more of an opinion, than an established social or scientific notion.

My SIL and I are both Americans living in Mexico. We were both pregnant at the same time. I used a doctor here in Mexico and she had midwife visits over the phone. She would take piss tests everymonth herself and call the midwife with results. She would go to clinics and get the bloodwork done when needed. She got 1 ultrasound done the whole time because she thinks ultrasounds are the devil. She had her baby at home with a midwife and her mother. I on the otherhand visited my doctor every month, and had my baby in a hospital by emergency c section. Without ultrasounds my baby would have died, I wasnt yet overdue and my daughter wasnt recieving anything from my placenta. I think it is possible and very common that you go and nothing ever happens to you at all and you feel that it was worthless, but an hour of your time a month to ensure a healthy baby isnt much to ask is it? It is possible to have a healthy baby and not recieve care, but what happens if there is somthing wrong with the baby. In the end, it is a personal desision and a risk.
