IVF itself is a whole series of treatments that are tailored for each patient. Each IVF cycle has basic fees, but then you have to add in other procedures such as ovulation induction, ICSI, specialised embryology techniques, hospital costs, anaesthetist costs, cryo-storage (for sperm, eggs and/or embryos) assisted hatching... the list goes on.

Some of the procedures are covered by Medicare, some are safety net applicable, and some are not covered at all. The final cost will also depend on whether you have access to private health insurance.

So ON AVERAGE (and speaking very generally) if you are looking to budget, we tell patients to estimate $8000 - $9000 per cycle, about which half can be refunded on Medicare and private health insurance, depending on your level of cover, and what you finally need doing, or what sort of assisted conception treatmnets you require.

The best thing to do is go and talk to an IVF specialist clinic who will discuss the reasons behind your need for assisted conception and give you an estimate of the costs.

Best of luck.
