For the last 2 weeks I have been getting terrible headaches. They became more intense in the last week with pain in my right eye. Also pain in the cheek area, forehead and eye socket. I've been to the doctor 3 times. Fortunately I've been getting better but every day I still need to take excedrin. I was given 2 migraine meds and ketorolac.
I am wondering if I need to NOT take any pain meds at all in order to 'tame the beast'????? The reason being is maybe I'm getting rebound headaches?????
I had a sinus x-ray and don't know the results yet.
The tooth where I had a root canal has been aching. I had the root canal done in November 2006.
I had an eye exam on Friday and my eyes are good. My optomitrist is referring me to an Internist because of the numbness and slight 'droopy' features of my right eye and that side of the face.

i am a migraine sufferer. frequently, when i get recurring migraines, i think they are recurring because of rebound headaches. however, it is a vicious cycle, hard to break... head hurts, take med, feel better, head hurts, take med, feel somewhat better, head hurts, take med, feel tiny bit better...

sometimes when i have a migraine, my sinuses ache... i actually find myself poking my fingernail into my gumline... which is horrible, but its a way for me to deal with the pain. i still have my wisdom teeth, never had a root canal, and my eyes get checked ~5 years (and i have 20/20).

also, my face feels numb after days of recurring headaches.

sometimes, when i have a migraine that lasts for 3 to 4 days, it ends up that i just have to get sick (no meds, suffering horribly) for a night to really get rid of it. i hope this is not what you will have to do. because sometimes it takes days for it to be truly gone (with no meds).

i take topomax as preventative, and relpax for relief. i've also taken maxalt, imitrex, etc..... but i'm using relpax now.

another idea if you have to 'get the headache' full force (no relief meds) is take a phenegrin to help stop the vomiting and to help you sleep it off. sometimes i have to do that.

if your sinuses are bothering you, have you considered allergy meds? my migraines are more frequent during pollen seasons, and if i do NOT treat the allergies, my sinus congestion/pressure/pain WILL turn into a migraine.

so, honestly, i don't know. i wish you the BEST of luck, and if you find a magic cure, please share with the rest of us...

I get headaches all the time, I get migraines often. Excedrin didnt work for me either. I had a persciption for Imitrex that did NOT help at all. Ive learned that a lot of different foods you eat can trigger these headaches, especially any processed food. I finally found a pill that works, MIGRAINE RELIEF, made by American Fare. I found it at Kmart. Sometimes this works too, an ice pack on the back of your neck for a few minutes.

It sounds as though you're doing what you should be, seeing your doctor, ruling out sinus, dental and vision problems. It's possible that these are rebound headaches, but it's also possible that you just haven't yet found the migraine med that works best for you. Give your doctor and your meds a little more time, wait for the test results and work from there. Best of luck.
